Food Plans
Hotels also charge rates on the basis of meals provided or
not provided along with room to the guest.
(a)
European
plan: Where the tariff of room includes only the room rate and any
meals such as breakfast, lunch and dinner etc. Provided will be charged extra
also called non inclusive rates because it was the characteristic of the
European hotel, where Americans stay on there.
(b)
Continental
Plan: Where the room tariff includes along with the room rate the
continental breakfast also.
(c)
American plan:
Where the room tariff along with rates the English breakfast, table
d’hote lunch and dinner and may also include early morning tea and afternoon
tea with snacks.
(d)
Modified
American Plan: Where the room tariff along with room rates includes English
breakfast, and one of the two major meals i.e, either lunch or dinner only suitable
for groups and individual guests who arrive late evening and take dinner and
leave hotel after taking breakfast next morning.
(e)
Bermuda
Plan: Which is a modification of continental plan where the
breakfast included is American (which is quite heavy) in place of continental
breakfast.
